Year-Round Story Times!

Young at Heart Book Club.  Meets the first Tuesday of each month at 7 p.m. 

A book club for adults who love children’s and teen books. Our next discussion will be on Tuesday, Feb. 7. Please register in person to pick up a copy of the book The Castle Corona by Sharon Creech.  oin us for refreshments and a sprightly discussion of children’s and teen literature.

Meet Dr. Robert Needlman. Thursday, Feb. 9 at 7:00 p.m.

Do you worry whether you're making the right choices as a parent? Join Dr. Robert Needlman, pediatrician at MetroHealth Medical Center, as he offers a “Survival Guide for Parents: From Car Seats to Driver’s Seats.”  As the editor of the latest edition of Dr. Spock’s Baby & Child Care, Dr. Needlman will discuss the tried and true basics of parenting and address 21st century issues. He'll answer questions such as: How do I discipline my toddler? Are organic foods really better? Will talking to my child about sex cause risky behavior? How do I protect my kids against online bullying? Books will be available for purchase and a signing will be held courtesy of the Friends of the Strongsville Library.

Angels, Love, and Romance.  Saturday, Feb. 11 at 2 p.m.  

Join Kim Wasielewski, a certified Angel Therapy Practitioner®, who works with the angelic realm for an enlightened experience with the angels.  The time will be filled with information on how to access and invoke your own personal angels to find that special relationship. Topics include: who are the angels and how can they help us; asking the angels for help with self-love so we can be open to that special relationship; and who to call on specifically for guidance on love and relationships.

Wednesday Evening Book Discussion.  Meets the third Wednesday of each month at 7 p.m. 

 New members welcome! Our next discussion will be on Wednesday, Feb. 15at 7 p.m. In February, we will discuss the book Little Bee by Chris Cleave. Copies will be available to pick-up at the circulation desk. Join us for great conversation!

We know them for their painted cheeks and pratfalls that make us laugh one moment and cry the next, but who dwells behind such compelling masks? Explore the lives and craft of our most memorable clowns in Vaudeville, the circus, in movies and on television.

Just 4 U Student Friends Meeting. Saturday, Feb. 18 from 1:30 – 3:30 p.m. Ages 10 – 18.  

Join the Just 4 U Student Friends group and get involved in your library! You can help your library with volunteer projects and other activities. Contact the Teen Librarian or Children's Librarian for an application.

Chocolate, Chocolate, Chocolate! Saturday, Feb. 18 from 2:00 – 3:30 p.m.  Grades 5 – 12.

Teens, create some chocolate treats to take home!  All materials will be provided.

Teen READ Book Club.  Monday, Feb. 20 from 7 – 8 p.m. Grades 5 – 8.

Join us for a book discussion of books that were made into movies.  Refreshments served.  Registration is requested.  Please contact the Teen Librarian for a copy of the book being discussed this month.

E-Reader Open House.  Wednesday, February 22nd from 7:00 – 8:30 p.m. 

Got a new Kindle, Nook, IPad, or other e-reader device?  Need help getting started with downloading  FREE e-books from the library?

Bring your device and attend this FREE open house training session. Library staff will be on hand to show you how to set-up, access, and download from our online collection.  A current Cuyahoga County Public library card and a reservation are required to attend this open house.  This is a drop-in event - please come any time between 7 and 8 p.m. 

Strongsville Kiwanis Read Around the World. Saturday, Feb. 25 from 10 a.m. – noon. All Ages.

The Kiwanis Club of Strongsville will hold their annual Read Around the World program at Strongsville Library.  Kiwanis believes that children have a greater chance to succeed in life if they learn to read and enjoy books at an early age. The books are geared towards children from birth to second grade.  Each child attending can choose a current book to take home (free from Strongsville Kiwanis Club) and members of our club will be available to read books to them.  Local Builder's Club members will be performing a story or two at 10:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. Builder's Club members will also do face painting and be available to read to the children, too.  Light refreshments will be available.  Come join us for this free, fun event! NO REGISTATION REQUIRED!

Monday Afternoon Book Discussion.  Meets the 4th Monday of each month at 2:30 p.m. 

New members are welcome. Our next discussion will be on Monday, Feb. 27Copies of the book Cutting for Stone by Abraham Verghese are available at the circulation desk.  This discussion being held to promote author Abraham Verghese's appearance at Writer's Center Stage on March 20, 2012 at 7:30 p.m.

Strongsville Saves Coupon Club. Meets the 4th Monday of each month from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. Our next meeting is on Feb. 27

Join us for our coupon swap club and share your passion for saving with other like-minded shoppers! Bring your scissors, and your stockpile of manufacturer coupons to share. Share what you don't want and hopefully leave with more coupons that you really need! This is the place to trade coupons, spend time with other coupon lovers, and share stories of great deals! See how others organize and share tips.


Digital Camera Workshop. Tuesday, Feb. 28 at 7 p.m.

Looking to buy a new digital camera or do you have one and just don't know what to do with it? A representative from Tech Wise will present this workshop on digital cameras. Before you go out and buy a camera, you need to know the terminology. This workshop will cover topics such as storage, optical versus digital zooms, pixels and megapixels, camera modes, and more.

Meet Author Kim Harrison! Wednesday, Feb. 29 at 7 p.m.

Join us for a presentation by Kim Harrison – the New York Times bestselling author of the Hollows series, which details the misadventures of Rachel Morgan, a witch who works as a private investigator in Cincinnati. The latest in the series, A Perfect Blood, will be released in February and finds Rachel Morgan tasked with solving a crime for which many suspect her to be culpable. A television series based on Kim’s dark urban fantasy novels is currently in development. Kim is also the author of the Madison Avery young adult series and the graphic novel, Blood Work. She is a member of both the Romance Writers of America and The Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America. Books will be available for purchase and signing courtesy of the Friends of the Strongsville Library and Mac’s Backs – Books on Coventry.
