Metroparks to Have New 'Winterrific' Event at Chalet

Dog sleds, nature hikes, ice carving and more set for Jan. 8

Cleveland Metroparks is introducing a new event designed to show what Mother Nature has to offer in the winter season.

Winteriffic will run from noon to 5 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 8 at the in Strongsville.

Visitors can enjoy free nature hikes, dog sled demonstrations, ice carving demonstrations, winter crafts for kids and winter "how-to-dress" demonstrations.

There will also be horse-drawn wagon rides for $5 a person and snowshoe rental and instruction available for $10 per person.

Visitors can also take a shuttle bus to see ice fishing demonstrations at the near-by Wallace Lake.

Plus, while there, you can ride the - the only public ice chutes in Ohio. The daily admission fee for tobogganing is $8 for adults and $6 for children 11 and under. One-time ride tickets are available for $3.

Food and refreshments will be available for sale at the Chalet concession stand.

The Chalet Recreation Area is at 16200 Valley Parkway in Mill Stream Run Reservation, between Routes 42 and 82 in Strongsville.
