Cuyahoga County Public Library offers story time sessions year-round for children birth to grade 2.  Our current story time sessions are in full swing! Please call the library for more information.

Exploration Station: Off to Work!  Ages 3 – 5 with a parent or caregiver.  Saturday, Feb. 1 from 11:30  a.m. – 12:15 p.m.
Join us for stories and activities about careers.  Children will be able to explore and learn about different jobs through play at hands-on activity stations.  

Fire Your Boss, Work from Home.  Tuesday, Feb. 5 at 7 p.m. 
Do you want to make money from home? What if it was easy to do? Imagine selling a product or service where buyers love what you are giving them! Wouldn't that be a good feeling? Join business expert Dave Roman as he teaches creative techniques for creating profitable home businesses.

Young at Heart Book Club.  Meets the first Tuesday of each month at 7:00p.m. 

A book club for adults who love children’s and teen books.  Our next discussion will be Tuesday, Feb. 5 at 7 p.m. We will be discussing the book The Scorpio Races by Maggie Stiefvater.  Join us for refreshments and a sprightly discussion of children’s and teen literature. 

Living the Online Life.  Thursday, Feb. 7 at 7 p.m.
Feel like your blogging or Facebook experience is falling flat?  Award-winning blogger and humorist Erin O'Brien will share the secrets of making your online alter ego shine like a diamond.  With tips on content, commenting, photos and more, O'Brien will show you how to push your blog posts, status updates and tweets to the next level.  Erin O’Brien’s newest book is the humorous food memoir The Irish Hungarian Guide to the Domestic Arts.  Her feature stories have appeared in The New York Times, the Los Angeles Times and The Plain Dealer, among others. 

Heart 411 Author Event. Saturday, Feb. 9 from 2 – 3:30 p.m.

Meet Marc Gillinov, M.D. and Steven Nissen, M.D., two renowned doctors at the Cleveland Clinic and authors of Heart 411: The Only Guide to Heart Health You’ll Ever Need. Drs. Gillinov and Nissen will share their knowledge and answer questions to give you the tools you need for a long and heart-healthy life.  This program is part of the Year of Vitality Author Series, presented by the Greater Cleveland Sports Commission, Parker Hannifin and Cuyahoga County Public Library.  Books will be available for purchase and signing courtesy of the Friends of the Strongsville Library and Mac's Backs - Books on Coventry.

Teens…What is Normal? What is Not? Wednesday, Feb. 13 at 7 p.m.

Ever wonder how a Teen's brain is wired?  Learn what's going on and how to understand the teen years, and the skills you need to handle them.  Please join Marlene Kurz, Counselor from Oakview Southwest Behavioral Health, as she shares her knowledge about adolescence.  This is the first in a three part series that will be held on Wednesdays from February - June of 2013.

Enjoy an extra special storytime celebrating grandparents.  There will be stories, songs, and other fun activities.  Invite your grandmother, grandfather, or a grand friend to join in the fun!  Registration begins on Feb. 1 at 9 a.m.

Wednesday Evening Book Discussion. Meets the 3rd Wednesday of each month at 7 p.m.

Is Your House Overweight? Author Event.  Thursday, Feb. 21 at 7 p.m.

Join Sharon Kreighbaum, author of Is Your House Overweight?, as she shares tips for keeping a low-fat house by eliminating clutter. Sharon will also discuss how to clean on a diet and save money by using supplies you already have in the kitchen or laundry room.  Books will be available for purchase and signing courtesy of the Friends of the Strongsville Library.

Strongsville Kiwanis Read Around the World. All Ages! Saturday, Feb. 23 from 10 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
The Kiwanis Club of Strongsville will hold their annual Read Around the World program at the Strongsville Branch Library.  Kiwanis believes that children have a greater chance to succeed in life if they learn to read and enjoy books at an early age. The books are geared towards children from birth to second grade.  Each child attending can choose a current book to take home (free from Strongsville Kiwanis Club) and members of our club will be available to read books to them.  Local Builder's Club members will be performing a story or two at 10:30am & 11:30am.  Builder's Club members will also do face painting .  Light refreshments will be available.  Come join us for this free, fun event! NO REGISTATION REQUIRED!

Monday Afternoon Book Discussion.  Meets the 4th Monday of each month at 2:30 p.m.

Strongsville Saves Coupon Club.  Meets the 4th Monday of each month from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m.  Our next meeting is on Monday, Feb. 25. Join us for our coupon swap club and share your passion for saving with other like-minded shoppers!  Bring your scissors, and your stockpile of manufacturer coupons to share.  Share what you don't want and hopefully leave with more coupons that you really need!  This is the place to trade coupons, spend time with other coupon lovers, and share stories of great deals!  See how others organize and share tips.

This is the first workshop in our Spring Career Workshop Series running from February 28 - March 28.  Aimed at LinkedIn beginners, join the Career Center Librarian to talk about getting started with this professional networking website.  We'll talk about setting up your profile, finding connections, joining groups, and more.  *Prerequisite: Customer must take Computer and Internet Essentials or equivalent to attend this class.
