This debut novel is based on true events that occurred in Hungary after World War I. When the men of a remote Hungarian village go off to war in 1916, the women left behind realize their lives are much better without them. Suddenly, they are not being beaten; they have time for friendships; they even find romance with the injured Italian soldiers staying just outside of town. Fans of Tracy Chevalier and historical fiction will certainly enjoy this new book.

Sergeant Rex: the Unbreakable Bond Between a Marine and his Military Working Dog By Mike Dowling, December 2011, 290 pages.

Deployed into Iraq in 2004, Mike Dowling and Rex were part of the first military working dog (K9) team sent to the frontlines since Vietnam. Rex was there to sniff out IEDs and other bomb-type booby traps and Mike was there to lead Rex into danger time and time again. Both a harrowing and heart-warming account of courage and devotion between man and his best friend. This is a must-read for dog lovers.

1222: a Hanne Wilhelmsen Novel By Anne Holt , December 2011, 320 pages.

This U.S. release of an internationally best-selling tribute to Agatha Christie's classic, And Then There Were None, follows the experiences of travelers who are stranded by a blizzard in a decrepit hotel where one of their numbers begins killing off the rest. With no sign of rescue, and the storm continuing to rage, retired police inspector Hanne Wilhelmsen is asked to investigate. Hanne must fit the pieces of the puzzle together before the killer strikes again. This page turning novel is a must read for all mystery fans.
