Earlybirds got their first taste of ribs, corn and sides Thursday evening

The 26th annual Strongsville City Club Rib Burnoff continues today and Saturday on the .

Hundreds braved the heat Thursday to get their first taste of ribs and sweet corn, with thousands more expected tonight and tomorrow.

The event, sponsored by the Strongsville City Club, features award-winning ribs and other fare, plus free live entertainment and inflatables for the kids.

Here are the details:

Hours: 3-11 on Friday, June 22; and noon to 11 p.m. on Saturday, June 23.

Entertainment: Funkology (6:30-10:30 p.m. Friday), United Force of Ohio Allstars (5-6 p.m. Saturday) and Second Time Around (6:30-10:30 p.m. Saturday).

Cost: Admission is $2, although kids 10 and under are admitted free. Everyone gets in free between noon and 3 p.m. Saturday. All active-duty military personnel with proper credentials get in free at all times.

Food: In addition to ribs, food will include roasted corn, blooming onions, onion rings, fries, sweet potato fries, fried veggies, elephant ears, funnel cakes, frozen cheesecake, fried candy bars, ice cream, fresh-squeezed lemonade, hand-dipped corn dogs and soft pretzels.

Among the ribbers will be Old Carolina Barbecue, which is , if you want to check out their menu early.

Parking and shuttle: Parking is free. There will be a shuttle available from the , 18100 Royalton Rd., between 5 and 10:30 p.m. daily.

Raffle: You'll be able to see the  by the Strongsville High School Athletic Boosters, and buy a chance to win it for $10.

Awards: Awards will be given Saturday evening for Best Ribs, Best Sauce and People's Choice.
