The Ram in the Chile Patch.  Tuesday, July 5 from 7 – 8 p.m.  For Pre-K through grade 4, but enjoyed by all ages.  Young children must be accompanied by an adult.  Registration begins on Monday, June 20.

 Resume Tips and Trends.  Wednesday, July 6 from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m.

Tired of revising the same resume over and over again? Looking for modern styles and new approaches? Join Cuyahoga County Public Library's Career Center for a workshop that offers the latest tips and trends that you can use to help your resume stand out from the rest!

Club READ.  For students going into grades 3 and 4.  Fridays, July 8 and 22 from 10:30 – 11:30 a.m.

 Technology Petting Zoo.  Saturday, July 9 from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m.

Take technology for a test drive by visiting the Technology Petting Zoo for hands-on interaction with iPads, iPods, Nooks, and more! Staff will be available to answer questions and share tips for interacting with your library through technology.  Stop in and give something new a try!

 Passport to India.  Grades 4 – 8.  Saturday, July 9 from 2 – 3 p.m. 

Namaste.  Join us as we travel to India and sample some of the wonderful arts and culture of this country.  Registration began June 6.

Scrapbook Your Travels.  Monday, July 11 at 7 p.m.

Join scrapbook artist Mary Kemock as she provides attendees with enough confidence to tackle a travel scrapbook with ease by giving them tips, techniques, and lots of resources to complete any size book.  This program is designed to introduce and assist you in scrapbooking your precious travel memories.  Lots of tips and techniques will be shared!

Tech Savvy Job Hunter.  Wednesday, July 13 from 10 a.m. – noon.

Learn the skills needed for today's job search.  Topics include working with Microsoft Word 2007, attaching a resume to an email and copying and uploading information into online job applications.  Prerequisite:  Participants must have a working email account and familiarity with Word 2007.

 Story Safari: Animals Around the World.  All Ages.  Saturday, July 16 from 2:30 – 3:30 p.m.  Registration begins Monday, June 27.

Join storyteller Jennifer Johnson in acting out funny animal folktales with puppets and masks, followed by a craft.

Musical Soundscapes: Touring the World Through Sampling.  Ages 11 – 18.  Tuesday, July 19 from 10 -  11:30 a.m.

In this workshop, participants will work with Progressive Arts Alliance professional audio engineers to create their own Musical Soundscape recordings. Each student will leave with a CD of the recording they produced that will feature a layered texture of samples and original sounds and “beats” the students created during the workshop. Students are encouraged (but not required) to bring audio recordings on CD to the workshop to be sampled as part of their audio production.

 Backpacking the Grand Canyon.  Tuesday, July 19 at 7 p.m.

Join this presentation by Russ Sage as he shares his story Challenging the Canyon for Cancer. Sage will talk about backpacking and hiking the Grand Canyon from rim-to-rim, which he did to support his wife, who is a breast cancer survivor.  He will also share hiking tips and how to stay healthy while enjoying the great outdoors.

 Good Morning, Strongsville Speaker Series.  Wednesday, July 20 from 10 – 11 a.m.

A library open house speaker series of programs for seniors and residents of Strongsville.  Our July speaker will be a representative from speaking on benefit programs for seniors.  Are you eligible for government benefits that can help with groceries, health care and other needs? Access Your Benefits is designed to cut through the barriers and provide help to residents of Cuyahoga County's 60 and over population. Representatives from MetroHealth will  be available to help seniors fill out applications and provide follow-up assistance.

 Media Arts Camp.  Ages 11 – 18. Monday, July 25 and Tuesday, July 26 from 9:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.

A multi-disciplinary experience where students will produce original work, such as the creation of their own website, a recorded piece of original electronic music using turntables, and a digital stop motion animated video. Presented by the Progressive Arts Alliance that draws on their extensive work with the media arts in dynamic educational programs.

 Monday Afternoon Book Discussion.  Meets the fourth Monday of each month at 2:30 p.m.  New members welcome.

Next discussion will be on Monday, July 25.  Copies of the book So Brave, Young, and Handsome by Leif Enger are available at the circulation desk.

 Strongsville Saves Coupon Club.  Meets the fourth Monday of each month from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m.  Next meeting is July 25. 

Join the coupon swap club and share your passion for saving with other like-minded shoppers!  Bring your scissors, and your stockpile of manufacturer coupons to share.  Share what you don't want and hopefully leave with more coupons that you really need!  This is the place to trade coupons, spend time with other coupon lovers, and share stories of great deals!  See how others organize and share tips with other "couponers." 

 Big Book Buddies Orientation Meeting.  Grades 5 – 8.  Monday, July 25 from 7:30 – 8 p.m.

Big Book Buddies are required to attend this mandatory orientation in preparation for being Big Book Buddies.  Students can help Little Buddies (grades 1 - 3) with reading skills by reading aloud and participating in learning games and activities.  Volunteers must be able to attend at least three out of the four scheduled sessions and this orientation.  Buddies first meeting will be onWednesday, July 27 from 11 a.m. – noon.  See librarian for all meeting dates and more information.

Book Buddies Program.  Little Buddies in Grades 1 – 3 and Big Buddies going into grades 5 – 8.  Wednesdays, July 27, Aug. 3, 10, and 17 from 11 a.m. – noon.

Share a great read-aloud experience. Each child will be paired with and older Book Buddy with whom they will share time in reading activities. Children should be able to attend three out of the four sessions.  Please see a librarian for more details.
