Year-Round Story Times!
Cuyahoga County Public Library offers story time sessions year-round for children Birth to Grade 2. Our current story time session ends are in full swing again beginning Sept. 4.!  No registration required. Join us as we share stories and fun in a group setting!  Please call the Strongsville Branch for specific program details.

Tighten Up: Home Efficiency and Your Wallet. Tuesday, Sept. 4 at 7 p.m.
In this program, learn how to keep your energy costs from going through the roof and keep your home more comfortable year round. Speaker, Jeff Muhlbach. will share common, cost-effective home improvements - many of which you can do yourself, including, attic tents, insulation, air sealing and HVAC upgrades.

Young at Heart Book Club.  Meets the first Tuesday of each month at 7 p.m. 
A book club for adults who love children’s and teen books.  Our next discussion will be on Tuesday, Sept. 4 at 7:00 p.m. Please register in person to pick up a copy of the book Revolver by Marcus Sedgwick. Join us for refreshments and a sprightly discussion of children’s and teen literature.

Learn to Speak English – ESOL Classes Return Sept. 11!
Do you or anyone you know need help learning to speak English? The Polaris Career Center teaches FREE English as a Second Language classes here at the Strongsville Branch Library every Tuesday evening from 6 - 8:45 p.m.  If you are interested in strengthening your English Language skills or need help learning to speak the language, this is the class for you!  No registration is needed.  Just attend the class!

Social Media: Getting Started with Facebook, Twitter, and More!  Wednesday, Sept. 12 from 7 – 8:30 p.m.
Is your family on Facebook and you want to know what you're missing?  How do you send a "tweet?"  Join us for this introduction to social media websites.  Local consultant and speaker, Kelly Pavlovic, will present this program on how to get started with Facebook, Twitter, and more.  Learn the basics of setting up and using your accounts, social media lingo, and the importance of setting your privacy settings on these websites.

Exploration Station: Money Math. Ages 3 – 5 with a caregiver. Friday, Sept. 14 from 10:30 a.m. – 11:15 a.m. 
Registration begins Monday, Aug. 20. 
Join us for stories and activities about saving and spending money.  Children will be able to explore and learn through play at hands-on activity stations.

Just 4 You Student Friends.  Ages 10 and up.  Saturday, Sept. 15 from 1 – 2 p.m.
Join us for a special planning meeting for Just 4 U Student Friends. We will discuss future meetings and enjoy pizza and pop while we plan! Current and possible new members are invited! Registration is requested.

Shelley Pearsall Book Launch. Tuesday, Sept. 18 at 7: p.m. Registration begins Monday, Aug. 27 
You’re invited to a special book launch for local author Shelley Pearsall’s newest book, Jump into the Sky published by Knopf Books. Books will be available for purchase and a signing will be held.

Balance Therapy: Good Morning, Strongsville Speaker Series.  Wednesday, Sept. 19  at 10 a.m.
Feeling off balance or having vertigo?  Don't let your fear of falling keep you at home.  Join us for this informative talk and meet a balance therapist from Southwest General Health Center to find out if the newest program in balance training and treatment of vertigo will help you.

Wednesday Evening Book Discussion.  Meets the 3rd Wednesday of each month at 7 p.m. 
New members welcome! Our next discussion will be on Wednesday, Sept. 19The book this month is The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks by Rebecca Skloot.  Pick up a copy of this book at the circulation desk, and join us for great conversation! 

Watershed Wonders. Thursday, Sept. 20 at 7 p.m.
Take a journey through your local watershed with the Cuyahoga County Board of Health. During the journey you will explore the underground world of pipes, one turn may lead you to the river and the other to a treatment plant for a good cleaning.  Through hands-on activities we will discuss how stormwater helps support your local environment.  This program is co-sponsored by the Friends of Strongsville Branch Library and the volunteers of Strongsville's Backyard Preserve.

Imaginative Illustrations.  Grades K – 5.  Saturday, Sept. 22 from 2 – 3 p.m.  Registration begins on Tuesday, Sept. 4.
Jim Gill, as teaching artist, leads the students through some basic drawing techniques, such as creating a character using simple geometric shapes. Students will also learn to depict basic emotions (happy, sad, angry, surprise) through facial expressions.

Monday Afternoon Book Discussion.  Meets the 4th Monday of each month at 2:30 p.m.  New members welcome!

Strongsville Saves Coupon Club.  Meets the fourth Monday of each month from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m.  Our next meeting is on Monday, Sept. 24.
Join us for our coupon swap club and share your passion for saving with other like-minded shoppers!  Bring your scissors, and your stockpile of manufacturer coupons to share.  Share what you don't want and hopefully leave with more coupons that you really need!  This is the place to trade coupons, spend time with other coupon lovers, and share stories of great deals!  See how others organize and share tips.

40 Tips for Job Seekers.  Wednesday, Sept. 26 from 2 – 4 p.m.
Looking for a job or change in careers? Join us as our Cuyahoga County Public Library Career Counselor gives tips on how to be successful at finding the job you want.

Practice SAT Exam.  Grades 6 – 12.  Saturday, Sept. 29 from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.  Registration begins Aug. 1.Take a practice SAT and be ready for the real thing. Bring a # 2 sharpened pencil and calculator to the practice exam. Exam will start promptly at 10:00 a.m.  Sponsored by the Princeton Review. Please call the library if you need to cancel, as there is high demand for these programs.
