What Are You Watching This Weekend?

DVD picks from the Strongsville Branch Library

A gripping drama, a family film and a sci-fi mystery are this week's movie picks from Joseph Jones of the of the Cuyahoga County Public Library.

Amish Grace — Loosely based on the 2006 shootings at a schoolhouse in the Amish community of Nickel Mines, we see a town and family struggling to cope with the aftermath. Ida, who had two daughters at the school, is at the center of the storm as she tries to balance the beliefs and traditions of her community with her family’s loss. This powerful film challenges our capacity for forgiveness.

Under the Mountain — Following the death of their mother, teenage twins Rachel and Theo are sent by their grieving father to live with their aunt and uncle in Auckland. They quickly realize that their new neighbors are not what they seem. Can  Rachel and Theo overcome their differences in time to fulfill their destiny and save the world?

Moon — Three years in solitude. That is how long Sam Bell’s contract is to work on the dark side of the moon. Three years is a long time though and as Sam gets towards the end of his term he starts to hallucinate and suffer from headaches. Then he gets in an accident and wakes up in the infirmary. That’s when the real mystery starts -- when he realizes he is not alone.
