5 Things to Know This Week

Tree lighting, holiday closings and new business

1. The city's holiday tree lighting is set for 5:30 to 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 25. Mayor Tom Perciak will illuminate the Winter Wonderland on the City Commons. There will also be a visit from Santa, live reindeer, ice carving and horse-drawn sleigh rides.

2. and the will be closed Thursday for Thanksgiving. The rec center will reopen for normal hours Friday, 5 a.m. to 10 p.m.

3. All branches of the will close at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday and remain closed Thanksgiving Day. Hours on Friday are 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

4. The new buyer of the property will discuss its plans in Strngsville at tonight's City Council meeting.

5. You might want to avoid the retail areas on Royalton Road -- or rush to them, depending on your outlook -- around midnight Thanksgiving night. Several stores, including , ,  and are opening then. will be open at 10 p.m. 

And, of course, traffic around those areas and will be heavy all day on Black Friday.
