AkzoNobel Sold to PPG Industries

One of Strongsville's biggest employers will change hands

PPG Industries is buying Strongsville-based AkzoNobel for $1.05 billion, Crain's Cleveland Business is reporting.

AkzoNobel bought the Strongsville-based business four years ago. It manufactures architectural coatings, including Glidden paint.

Locally, AkzoNobel is active in the Strongsville community, providing paint and volunteers for projects like refurbishing the Castletown playground and Safety Town.

The company is the fifth-largest employer in Strongsville, with an estimated 440 workers at its corporate headquarters on West Sprague Road.
