Applebee's Auctioning its Wall Artifacts as it Remodels

Money will be donated to Strongsville High School PTA

Ever notice the photos and sports items decorating the walls at Applebee's?

The Strongsville restaurant, 17771 SouthPark Center, is selling them off as it remodels.

The remodeling will close the restaurant on Sunday, Feb. 17. It will reopen at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 20 with an updated look.

Meanwhile, the business is holding a silent auction for the old wall artifacts -- things like sports memorabillia, movie stills, local photos and displays from area high schools.

All proceeds from the sale will be donated to the Strongsville High School PTA.

"I've had people for years saying, 'If you ever want to get rid of that picture, let me know,'" said John Danko, assistant regional manager.

To bid on a picture, just visit the restaurant and speak with a server. Danko said the winning bidders will be notified around Feb. 15 to come pick up their items.

During the remodeling, the hundreds of photos will be replaced by murals, he said.

General Manager Phil Lowell promises "a bright, fresh new look" when the remodel is finished, including new fixtures, carpet, paint, upholstery and a more open bar with plasma TVs.

Good deals for a good cause! I hope the new Applebees remodeling works out well, and the PTA earns some money!
