Strongsville's newest bakery opened today.
The Cute Little Cake Shop moved into its new space at 15131 Pearl Rd., near and in the Strongsville Towne Centre shopping center.
A grand opening celebration is set for Saturday, Dec. 10 with a ribbon-cutting at 10 a.m. and a party from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. including visits from Santa, face painting, free hot cocoa and candy canes (while supplies last) and a contest to win a dozen cake balls.
It is operated by Janet Yurcik and her mom, Marcia Rehak, who until now ran their custom cake ball and cake pop business from Rehak's Strongsville home.
Yurcik said the store will be "the first of its kind anywhere in the midwest.
"To the best of my knowledge, there are no other stores anywhere in the midwest that are dedicated to cake balls and cake pops," she said.
They plan to operate like a cupcake shop, with daily flavors available for walk-in purchase. They will also offer other sweet treats, including custom-decorated strawberries.
