Benn, whose shop is in its 15th year, said he participates in Free Comic Book Day to introduce new readers to comic books.

Selected books will be available for free, but Benn said they feature popular titles. He pays a discounted rate for the books, but said the publicity and the new customers make the expense worthwhile.

Free Comic Book Day, established in 2002, is the first Saturday in May.

Benn said he expects bigger crowds than usual tomorrow because Free Comic Book Day coincides with the release of a new Magic card game.
