Farm Market at Clinic is a Hit

Visitors, employees pleasantly surprised to find fresh produce outside

Mary Beth Merz went to the Cleveland Clinic in Strongsville for a blood test Thursday, and left with something extra -- some farm-fresh tomatoes. 

"I had to come up here for an appointment and I saw this," said Merz, of Strongsville, who also took home some green beans and corn-on-the-cob.

Thursday was the first day for the new at the , an effort by the Cleveland Clinic to promote eating both healthy and locally produced food.

The market will run from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Thursday through the end of September.

Business was pretty brisk at yesterday's market, said Patty Saal of Walnut Drive Gardens of Mogodore, who was running the stand yesterday with her husband, Bill.

"So far, go good," she said. "Not bad for the first day."

Employees in the facility were also pleased with the market outside their front door.

"It's nice to be able to buy fresh food during your lunch hour," said Kim Pisanelli, a nurse.
