Gourme Deli and Restaurant Rolls Back Menu Prices

Customers can eat three meals for $12

owner Azar Khouri was tired of seeing increased prices at every turn. It was then he decided to do something about it at his own restaurant.

“The community has been good to me and I wanted to try and give something back to them,” Khouri said.

With that in mind, he rolled back prices on a wide variety of breakfast, lunch and dinner menu items to enable his customers to eat three square meals for a total of $12.

Khouri offers a $0.99 breakfast with the purchase of a beverage all morning from Monday to Friday and the same special for early birds from 6-8 a.m. on weekends.   Additional wallet-friendly breakfast options range from a $3 Homerun breakfast including two eggs, meat, home fries and toast to a $6 eggs Benedict entrée.

Khouri offers 12 sandwiches for lunch, which also include a home-made soup and salad bar for $5. Gourme Deli and Restaurant’s Early Bird dinner Specials from 2-5 p.m. include 10 options for $6.  The family-style restaurant’s “Every Night is Senior Night” specials include hearty made-from-scratch entrees for $5.99.

“I don’t want to make money on this; I just want to be able to pay my bills. My goal is to see more people in here and give them a lot of options,” Khouri said. “Then they tell people about what we are doing and more customers come.”

His strategy is working. Khouri says customers whom he may have seen once a month before now stop in to eat three times per week.

“You can’t find the service, quality and friendliness anywhere else,” he said of the foundations upon which he built his business.

Since opening the doors to Gourme in May 1992, Khouri remains a hands-on owner, spending a lot of time behind the scenes in the kitchen. His theory is to always give the best quality for the best prices and to truly take care of his customers.

“These prices are here to stay,” he said. “People in this economy needed something like this so I am doing the best I can to help out.”

Gourme also offers a party room for up to 50 guests at no additional charge to customers and an outdoor patio. In addition, Gourme hosts a car show every Friday from 6 to 9 p.m. The event has become so popular that framed photos of cars and their owners line the walls of the restaurant, which Khouri affectionately calls “The Gourme Hall of Fame.”

is open from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Saturday and from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Sunday.
