Kids can learn to play, perform at Pearl Road business

School of Rock, a performance-based music academy that teaches kids how to be rock stars, is seeking to open on Pearl Road.

Bill Rini, who owns A Taste of Excellence at 16888 Pearl Rd., said he has leased space in his building to a School of Rock outlet.

The company has franchises all over the country, including one in Rocky River

Franchise owner Mike Norehad, who operates the Rocky River School of Rock with his wife, Shelley, could not be reached for comment.

But plans have been turned in to the city's Building Department, which show about 10 classrooms and several music rooms for bands to practice.

The school's website says it teaches guitar, bass, vocals, drums and keyboard, combining private weekly lessons with group band rehearsals to prepare students to take the stage in front of a live audience.

The schools use professional musicians to teach kids how to play and perform.
