New Life for Bally's Building

Fitness center, restaurant to open in vacant Pearl Road location

The former Bally Total Fitness building, which has stood vacant since the gym closed in June 2009, is getting two new tenants.

A business called Elevated Fitness is planning to open a small workout facility on the upper floor of the building, 14783 Pearl Rd. The company has not yet sought an occupancy permit from the city, but has hung a sign on the building.

Kumo Japanese Seafood Buffet, an all-you-can-eat Japanese-Chinese-American restaurant, is seeking to occupy 9,000 square feet on the lower level. currently has a location on Ridge Road in Parma.

The Strongsville Bally's was one of 47 to close nationwide as part of the Chicago-based company's Chapter 11 restructuring.

"It's a very positive thing," Strongsville Economic Development Director Brent Painter said. "It's a tough vacancy, and it's going to be filled."
