No Protesters Yet at Chick-fil-A

An event organized on Facebook that promised to have gay couples showing up at restaurants today has fizzled so far -- at least in Strongsville.

While lines were out the door all day Wednesday during Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day, today's event -- called "National Same-Sex Kissing Day at Chick-fil-A" -- failed to bring out any early supporters.

The restaurant appeared to be doing a normal Friday business, and no kissing couples were there about 11 a.m. today.

It's early, though -- the initiative is supposed to peak about 8 tonight.

Outrage over company presidents Dan Cathy's statement that he does not support same-sex marriage, as well as his ongoing financial support of groups that fight to keep marriage as a heterosexual institution, triggered "National Chick-Fil-A Appreciation Day" on Wednesday, organized by former Arkansas governor and Fox News host Mike Huckabee.

In Strongsville, -- some saying they back Cathy's position and others saying they were there to support his right to say what he believes.

Chick-fil-A will not release sales numbers, but said in a statement that Wednesday "was an unprecedented day."

Customers in Strongsville reported the restaurant ran out of food by Wednesday evening.

As far as Friday's event, a statement from Steve Robinson, executive vice president of marketing, says, "No matter a customer's reason for visiting our restaurants, we are always eager to serve them by providing great food and genuine hospitality."
