Staycation Ideas for Spring Break

Who says you have to leave the state to have a good vacation?

You don't have to head down to Florida to have a great spring break. Well, OK, it helps, but there are actually some cool staycations in the Strongsville area, even if the weather isn't warm. And sunny. Without any humidity yet. And a delightful breeze off the ocean.

Really, it can be fun here. Here's why:

Great Wolf Lodge, Kalahari -- There are two nice indoor water parks a few hours away. Either is great for a day trip or an overnight.

Spring Break Day Camp -- Here's a good option for parents who aren't able to take the week off with their kids. The Ehrnfelt Recreation Center has a day camp for kids, with organized games, arts and crafts and swimming. Cost is $30 a day for residents who are rec center members; $40 for resident non-members; and $45 for non-resident non-members.

The Wilds -- Haven't been there yet? It's pretty cool. Wild animals all around you.

Hocking Hills -- For a day trip or an overnighter, visit Old Man's Cave, Cedar Falls, Ash Cave, Conkles Hollow, Rock House and Cantwell Cliffs -- all attractions of the state park and state forest in southern Ohio.

Cleveland Metroparks Zoo, Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Great Lakes Science Center, Cuyahoga Valley National Park, Museum of Natural History -- If you're all home, now's a chance to go visit some of those places you keep meaning to get to.

Mohican -- Camp or stay in the lodge, hike, canoe, mountain bike, swim in the heated pool, or just take in the sights of the state park.
