"If you don't have something nice to say..."

Hey, Trump, attack the message, not the person delivering it.

This week, I have not been celebrating as most Americans are for the final demise of Osama bin Laden.  Don't get me wrong, I am extremely happy that justice has prevailed and am rejoiced that there may be an end to war in the Middle East; however, another headline grabbed my attention on Monday and it has been bothering me ever since.

The First Amendment gives us the right to freedom of speech but when someone decides to use this freedom to put down a group of individuals that have impairments, I am outraged.  This weekend, Donald Trump was the butt of many jokes at the hands of Saturday Night Live comedian, Seth Meyers.  Instead of laughing it off like most politicians and celebrities do, he came back with "Seth's a stutterer."  What does that mean?  We can't appreciate Seth's humor and intelligence?!  There are many people in this world that have a speech impediment; does that mean we think less of them?

Should we remind Mr. Trump that Colin Firth just won an Oscar for Best Actor while portraying King George VI?  The entire basis of the movie was the fact that he stuttered.  Elvis Presley is one of - if not THE - most recognizable music icons in America, yet he stuttered.  So did Winston Churchill.  And in more recent news, Julia Roberts and James Earl Jones - the voice of Darth Vader.  The list goes on and on.

Here's a tip to all that are in the public eye - think before you speak....
