Wine Tasting Event Honors Legacy of Brave Little Girl

Carina Ruth –Ann Britz was born with a life threatening illness on June 25th, 2007, and died 18 months later. Inspired by the miracle of her birth, and the overwhelming love and support that surrounded her parents in the heart break of her death, the Courage for Carina foundation was founded by her parents in her honor.
  
This Foundation supports Akron Children’s Hospital, and more specifically, the Haslinger Family Pediatric Palliative Care Center. The goal of Palliative Care is to minimize suffering and enhance quality of life for infants, children and young adults who are journeying through a chronic, complex, or life-threatening condition.

The money collected from this foundation’s annual fund- raising efforts supports Akron Children’s Hospital through the Carina Gift Card fund. The money raised is used to support those families with financial hardships to purchase everyday necessities such as groceries, gas, and paying down accumulated medical expenses while their children require extensive treatment and prolonged hospitalization.
