A Mix of Great New Books to Read!

Librarians Jennifer Niederhausen, Dona Stein, and Heather Timko bring to you three great new books to read each week. Enjoy!

This week we bring to you quite a mix of new books for your reading enjoyment. If you enjoy romance, contemporary fiction, or a good science fiction novel every now and then, why not stop in to check out these three books? Happy Reading!

Eleanor and Park
By Rainbow Rowell. February 2013, 328 pages.

This is a story about first loves. It’s like Romeo and Juliet set in 1986 without the tragic ending. Eleanor is from the wrong side of the tracks so Park’s family doesn’t approve. But when you’re young and in love, it doesn’t seem to matter what anyone else thinks. While the book is about teens, it’s a story that many adults can relate to when they think back to young love. Fans of the movie Sixteen Candles will certainly enjoy all the Eighties references.

Truth About Love and Lightning
By Susan McBride, February2013, 315 pages.

This is a story about love, family, forgiveness and a little magic. A tornado rips through Gretchen’s small town and leaves a mysterious man behind. Gretchen’s adult daughter Abby is pregnant and thinks this mystery man that has arrived is the father that she has been missing her whole life. A lie that Gretchen told all those years ago is now coming back to haunt her. Fans of Cecilia Ahern and Sarah Addison Allen will enjoy this family novel from Susan McBride.

Turn of Light
By Julie Czerneda, March 2013, 896 pages.

Veteran science fiction writer Czerneda turns in a debut fantasy novel set solidly in the recognizable landscape of pioneer Ontario. Jenn, a young woman with a bit of wanderlust, seems stuck in the village of Marrowdell, an isolated community where two worlds overlap, although the other world, the magical land called The Verge, can only be seen at Sunset, the turn of the light. Fans of Patricia McKillip should enjoy this spellbinding adventure.
