Based very loosely on the life of Maria Mitchell, this debut novel tells the story of Hannah Gardner Price in the year 1845. Hannah comes from a Quaker family in Nantucket, but is drawn to the unheard of goal of discovering a comet and winning a gold medal from the King of Denmark. She discovers love when she takes a young whaler on as a student. Highly recommended for readers who loved Remarkable Creatures by Tracy Chevalier.
