Abide with Me: a Novel
By Sabin Willett. March 2013, 368 pages.

Lovers of Bronte’s classic, Wuthering Heights, will want to check out this modern retelling of obsessive love. Roy, the "no-good" boy from The Park, and privileged Emma from the Heights, have a passionate star-crossed romance. Then Roy goes off to fight in Afghanistan at the height of the Taliban insurgency. When he returns from war a changed man, he comes back to reclaim the girl he can’t let go. Readers will enjoy this contemporary new novel.

The Cuckoo’s Calling
By Robert Galbraith, April 2013, 464 pages.

After losing his leg in a land mine in Afghanistan, Cormoran Strike is finding it hard to survive as a private investigator. His girlfriend broke up with him, he is living in his office, and he is down to one client. Then the brother of a supermodel hires him to investigate the mysterious death of his sister. The case plunges Strike into the world of the rich and famous. The author of this new book is a great storyteller and readers will enjoy this detective mystery story.

Palisades Park
By Julie Czerneda, March 2013, 896 pages.

This coming of age novel shares the story of a young girl Toni and her family – they live and work near the legendary Palisades Amusement Park. The author takes us on the family’s journey from the Great Depression, to Pearl Harbor, and eventually the story ends as they are brought back together when the park closes in 1971. This book by bestselling author of Honolulu and Moloka’i is sure to please readers looking for a great historical novel.
