Two men and two women are facing felony theft charges after allegedly stealing four tires from a vehicle at Serpentini Chevrolet in the middle of the night.
Thefts from the large Royalton Road car lot have been a problem, police said.
Officers were called to the business about 3:30 a.m. Oct. 21 and arrived to find the suspects with four tires from a Chevy Tahoe.
Detective Lt. John Janowski said the tires and rims were worth $1,500.
Another vehicle was up on blocks, but the tires had not yet been removed.
"They take the tires off the big vehicles because they're so expensive," Janowski said. "It's a big payoff for a few minutes of work."
The suspects -- three from the same address in North Ridgeville and one from Cleveland -- were all apprehended on the scene.
Janowski said Sperpentini has been a popular target for thieves because the lot is so large, with a number of access points.
The problem got so bad that business installed video surveillance -- and that's how the suspects were caught.
Janowski said someone was monitoring the video and saw one of the women rolling a tire through the lot.
