Burglar Tries to Get in While Residents Sleep: Police Blotter

The following information was provided by the Strongsville Police Department

A Sun Meadow Trail resident heard tapping at the patio door about 2 a.m. Oct. 1, then discovered later that someone had slid open the screen door.

There were also footprints by the door, a report said.

Police found no damage to the door and no one got inside the home. Officers will give special attention to the area.

Laptop Stolen from Car

A man reported his computer was taken from his car between 11:30 a.m. and 12:10 p.m. Sept. 30 while it was parked at a loading dock at SouthPark Mall.

He told police he thought he'd locked the car, and had expected to be inside only a few minutes to talk to employees in his store.

His passport, which was in the computer case, was also taken.

Daytime Curfew Violation

A Stoney Point Drive resident called police about 10 a.m. Oct. 2 after a teenage girl and boy asked to use her bathroom.

When she said no, they walked calmly away, but the woman noticed the girl started dancing around again whenever anyone drove by.

Police caught up with that couple and another by the Chandler Commons pool area. Both girls said their parents had called them off school today; a check revealed that was true.

Both males appeared to be adults and would not give their names, a report said.

The girls were warned about the daytime curfew law, about hanging with older boys and about the dangers of smoking.

A half hour later, police saw the same two girls out on Hunt Road and again sent them home.

About noon, a Hunt Road resident reported two girls and two men in the woods, acting strangely — two would leave, and another would whistle and they'd return.

It was the same girls, a report said. They were told if they left their houses again they would be charged.

Property Damage

Someone took the gate to a pool off its hinges in a Golden Star Drive home Sept. 30, allowing anyone to access the pool.

An officer helped the resident re-install the gate, which had not been damaged.
