Crying Baby Causes Concern; 'You Hit My Car' Scam: Police Blotter

The following information was provided by the Strongsville Police Department

A Pearl Road resident got concerned after a baby in another apartment cried for more than an hour about 9:30 p.m. July 24.

An officer knocked on the door of the apartment, where he could hear a baby crying inside, but no one answered.

He found the door was unlocked, announced his presence and went inside, a report said.

Two men were in the apartment, including the baby's father. The report said everyone was fine — the baby was teething and the dad couldn't get the infant settled down.

Theft from Car

A purse left in an unlocked vehicle on Westwood Drive was still there when the owner went to get it July 22, but the money inside was gone.

A report said $200 in cash was stolen from the purse.

Gun in Parking Lot?

A customer at the Salvation Army store on Pearl Road reported to the manager that a man pulled a gun on the other man in the parking lot about 8:50 p.m. July 23.

The two men were arguing over a parking space.

Both left, the gunman reportedly driving a dark-colored Jeep.

Possible Scam

A woman went to police July 25 after an altercation in the Walmart parking lot in which someone accused her of hitting another car.

When she denied it, the person told her to "go back to her own country," a report said.

Police said the incident could have been a scam to get money from unsuspecting drivers.

A man took about 100 pairs of women's underwear from a store at SouthPark Mall about 1:30 p.m. July 27.

The panties were valued at $1,450.

Vandalism

Someone shot a BB gun at a Lunn Road window during the night, shattering the entire pane.

The damage was reported July 24.
