Driver Gets Maximum for Crash that Killed Motorcyclist

Timothy Bene will go to prison for Boston Road accident

A Strongsville man was sentenced to 18 months in prison for a traffic crash that killed a motorcycle rider.

Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Judge Nancy McDonnell handed down the maximum sentence Monday to Timothy Bene, 27, of Strongsville, according to Maria Russo, spokeswoman for Cuyahoga County Prosecutor Bill Mason.

Bene to aggravated vehicular homicide, a first-degree misdemeanor, and an amended charge of attempted tampering with evidence, a fourth-degree felony, Russo said.

William Bricker, Jr., 39, of Brunswick, died after his motorcycle was struck by Bene's truck June 26.

Police said Bricker was riding a Harley Davidson west on Boston Road about 8:45 a.m. when Bene, driving east on Boston, turned his pickup truck left onto Howe Road in front of him.

Police found four bags of marijuana in the woods.

Bricker was taken to MetroHealth Medical Center, where he died four days later.
