'Grandson Scam' claims a victim
A Strongsville man fell for a popular scam Feb. 22 when he believed the male who called him was his grandson and wired him $1,800.
The resident caught on when the caller tried to get him to send another $875.
In the scam, a caller pretending to be a person's grandson claims to be in trouble, usually out of state or out of the country, and asks a grandparent to wire cash.
Strongsville police told the resident to report it to the Ohio Attorney General's office.
