Get Rid of Old Medication at Police Station Saturday
Strongsville will participate again in National Drug Take-Back Day
Strongsville Police will again participate in National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day on Saturday, April 27.
Between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., residents can drop off unused or expired prescription medication in front of the Strongsville Police Station.

Last year, which was the first year the department participated, 308 pounds of medications were collected.
Sgt. Mike Grywalsky said the department will again set up a tent in the parking lot to collect the containers.

"You don't even have to get out of your car," Grywalsky said.
Only pills -- no liquids -- will be be accepted.
The National Take-Back Initiative is organized by the DEA.
Flushing old medication isn't the answer to disposing of it because the chemicals seep into the waterways and soil and contaminates them.
Grywalsky said Strongsville is participating in the effort to give residents a close-to-home place to dispose of unwanted or expired drugs.
He said many people who dropped off drugs last year ended up with them after caring for a sick spouse or parent.
