Harassment with a Dead Squirrel; 3 Thefts from Cars: Police Blotter

The following information was provided by the Strongsville Police Department

A Priem Road resident complained July 15 about an ongoing dispute with her neighbor that escalated into dead squirrel-throwing.

The woman said she saw a dead squirrel -- decomposing and covered in maggots -- in the neighbor's yard.

The next day, she found in under her kids' swingset.

She flung it back over into the neighbor's yard, then called police to document the situation.

Thefts from Vehicles

An employee at Don's Pomeroy House said someone stole her purse while she was at work July 17.

The purse contained cigarettes, perfume and a pair of sandals.

On Woodhurst Drive, CDs and a pair of Ray-Ban sunglasses were taken from a car overnight July 16.

And a bag containing a $50 gift card, checkbook and paperwork was stolen from a car on Groveside Drive the night of July 17.

All three cars were unlocked.

Freeze, Turkey

Someone at the Westwood Place apartments asked to talk to an officer about "people cutting through the parking lot and jive talking," a report said.

Mischief

Someone threw a Gatorade bottle at a house on Bears Paw Lane about 4 a.m. July 18.

The bottle exploded, a  report said. It's not the first time it's happened, a resident said.

Well, That Was Nice

A resident on Pebble Brook Lane heard yelling about 10:45 p.m. July 16, but when he went outside, a white car sped off.

He called back and canceled a few minutes later, though -- the kids in the car, realizing he was upset, came back and apologized.

Screaming Animal

Police were called to Scarlet Oak Trail at 9 p.m. July 18 by a resident who heard a cat or other animal "screaming" from the sewer grate.

Officers listened to several grates, but couldn't hear any animals in distress.
