Hollo Oval Man to be Sentenced this Week for Ax Attack

Aco 'Alex' Simonoski scheduled to go before judge Wednesday

The man charged with during a domestic dispute in their Hollo Oval home in August is scheduled to be sentenced this week.

Aco "Alex" Simonoski  March 30 to one count of attempted murder, four counts of felonious assault and two counts of domestic violence for striking his ex-wife, Milka, 51, in the head with an ax Aug. 21.

He also hit his daughter, Bilyana, 22, with the ax when she tried to intervene.

He faces a maximum of 34 years in prison, according to Maria Russo, spokeswoman for Cuyahoga County Prosecutor Bill Mason.

Sentencing is set for 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 2.

Bilyana and her siblings sentence.

She has asked friends and neighbors to write letters to Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Judge Ron Suster urging him to put her father behind bars as long as possible.

"None of this heals our mother's brain. No amount of time will ever be enough, but let's start with the max," Bilyana told Strongsville Patch earlier this month.

On the night of the attack, Simonoski struck Milka in the head with an ax after she told him to move out of the house. Bilyana intervened and was hit in the wrist with the ax.

Bilyana was struggling with her father to try to keep him from hitting her mother again ax when neighbor Tom Drost heard her screaming and saw the fight spill out into the garage.

Drost ran over, calling police on his way, and broke up the scuffle.

Simonoski was arrested at the scene. He has been in jail on $100,000 bond ever since.
