Kids Pull Dangerous Prank; Purse Stolen from Car: Police Blotter

The following information was provided by the Strongsville Police Department

Seven or eight kids were reportedly lying in the street at Eastland and Fair roads after dark July 20, then jumping up and scaring motorists as they passed.

One woman told police the kids looked young, and her husband almost hit them because he couldn't see them in the dark.

The report came in about 9:25 p.m. Police checked the area, but couldn't find the kids.

Scam Stopper

A Bonnie Lane resident told police he keeps getting calls from a man who wants him to pay for a prize he won.

The resident knew it was a scam, but the caller told him July 20 he'd be there in an hour to collect the money.

Police saw the calls are coming from out of state and advised the man to just not answer the phone.

Coach Stolen

A woman who left her purse in the car to watch a soccer game on Foltz Parkway returned to find it gone.

The Coach purse contained $400 in cash and a number of credit cards, which she canceled.

The theft took place between 6:10 and 6:50 p.m. July 20. The vehicle was unlocked.

Suspicious Stop

An Albion Road resident was a little leery of answering the door at 1 a.m. July 21, but called the police in case the three teenagers in his driveway needed help.

Police found the teens had run out of gas and pulled into the driveway to get out of the road. A mom was on her way with a gas can, a report said.
