Loud Booms; Fake Paper License Plate: Police Blotter

The following information was provided by the Strongsville police department

 

An officer on routine patrol saw a flash and heard a loud boom near Whitney and Pearl roads about 10:30 p.m. Feb. 15.

He drove around, but could find nothing unusual in the area.

The next night, a caller on Whitney Road reported a loud boom about 7:45 p.m.

Again, an officer checked and found nothing out of place.

Fake Paper Plate

A motorist reported an Audi on I-71 with a paper license plate covering the real one Feb. 17.

Police located the car at SouthPark Mall and saw there was an expired temporary tag covering the rear plate -- and the owner had a warrant in Bowling Green.

Officers spoke with the driver, who said he had borrowed the car from a friend and was unaware the plates were expired. He was given several warnings.

Theft from Yard

A Burgandy Drive resident reported two garbage cans stolen Feb. 15.

Harassment

A Whitney Road woman told police she saw her ex-boyfriend slashing her car's tires about 6 p.m. Feb. 16.

She grabbed her kids and ran from him, a report said. The previous day, the ex also allegedly broke her car windows in Mayfield Heights.

Police said he is already wanted for violating a protection order.

Marble Damage

Someone shot a white marble into a garage window on Forestwood Drive the night of Feb. 16.

The porcelain marble broke a window pane and a screen, a report said.
