Midnight Chopping; Intoxicated Ref?: Police Blotter

The following information was provided by the Strongsville police department

Coaches at OBM Arena at Iceland USA called police about 6 p.m. Sunday because they suspected the hockey referee was intoxicated, a report said.

Police gave the ref a portable breath test to make sure he was able to drive home safely and detected no alcohol in his system.

The report didn't say why the coaches felt the referee was impaired.

Getting Chores Done

A resident on Turkey Meadow Lane reported about 1 a.m. Sunday that a neighbor had been chopping wood for the last 15 minutes.

Police found the man was not chopping when they arrived, but he acknowledged he had cut a few pieces of wood a bit earlier.

He was advised of the complaint and said he was going in for the night.

Residents on Colebright Drive and Creekwood Lane reported hearing gunshots about 10 p.m. Saturday.

The shots seemed to be coming from the woods behind Creekwood and Pomeroy Boulevard.

An officer waited in the area, but didn't hear any more.
