One deputy chief post was vacated when James Kobak became police chief this month, following the retirement of Charles Goss.

The other deputy chief position had been vacant. Deputy chiefs are lieutenants who serve in that role by the chief's appointment.

All three men said they were honored by the promotions and pledged to uphold their new duties.

"There is no other city I'd rather work in than Strongsville," Fender said.
