Police Blotter: You'd Think It's Too Cold for Mischief, But No

The following information was provided by the Strongsville police department

Three reports of kids up to no good came in over the weekend, even though there was snow on the ground and freezing temperatures.

A resident of Gate Post Road woke up Jan. 15 to find someone had put chocolate sauce and Silly String on her garage, front door and mailbox. The same thing happened a month ago, a report said.

The same morning, a Cortland Way family found their mailbox missing and their Christmas tree in the middle of the road.

Police said it appeared vandals moved the tree, then broke off the mailbox and took it.

About 10 p.m. Jan. 15, a three kids rang a doorbell and threw snowballs at a house on Winding Trail. The resident told police she could see them hiding on the side of the house.

Suspicious Shovels

A resident of Northpointe Circle noticed a car with two men driving slowly down the street about 4:30 p.m. Jan. 13, stopping in front of houses.

The men got out and walked around a house under construction, a report said.

The resident called back to say the men were shoveling driveways and there was no need to respond.

Cell Phone Thrown Out

A man asked police to help him get reimbursed for a cell phone he says was delivered to the wrong address.

A report said the phone went to his old home, where he lived with a friend and the friend's grandmother. When it arrived a few months ago, the grandmother kept it for a few weeks, then threw it away.

Police told the man it is a civil matter, not criminal.

Kids Found in Parking Lot

An eyewitness told police two teenagers were going through cars in the Chestnut Lakes Apartments parking lot about 1:30 a.m. Jan. 13.

Police located the two, who denied pulling on car door handles. They had no stolen property with them.

Officers warned them not to return to the complex and drove them home.

Walking While Intoxicated

A man who got into a fight with has wife at a bar and walked home ended up getting a courtesy ride from police after witnesses reported he was on the wrong side of the street about 8:30 p.m. Jan. 13.

The man, who said he had been at , was warned about walking in the correct lane on Prospect Road.
