Police Blotter: 2 Animal Cruelty Reports; 1 Raccoon Rescue; and Line-Cutting at the Carnival
The following information was provided by the Strongsville police department
Two dog owners were cited for cruelty for leaving their pups in hot cars over the weekend.
On Saturday, police found two small dogs in a van outside the store on Pearl Road.
A witness called about 2:40 p.m., and police waited for the owner to come out until 3:15, when they paged her.

The windows were down about 1-1/2 inches, but the dogs had no water and it was 84 degrees outside, a report said.
The owner, from Hinckley, was cited.

On Sunday, a passerby reported a dog that had been in a pickup truck outside at for at least 30 minutes.
A report said the window was down a bit, but dog appeared to be in distress.
Dispatchers called the owner of the truck, who lives in Berea, and left a message. When he came out of the store, he was cited for animal cruelty. The dog appeared to be OK afterward, the report said.
Raccoon Duty
People at found two small raccoons trapped in the garbage can near the playground Saturday morning.
The animal warden was not available. But police, with the help of a kind citizen, carried the can to the woods and tipped it, a report said.
The two young raccoons scampered off.
Hub Caps Go Again
An employee of came out Sunday evening to find two hubcaps missing from the right side of her Toyota.
The owner said she had recently replaced them from a previous theft.
Carny Lays Down the Law
A dispute at Strongsville Homecoming brought out a police officer, but the matter was solved without charges.
A woman complained that a family pushed her and cut in line about 11 p.m. Saturday.
The carnival worker who was operating the ride banned the family from the ride. A report said the family was not happy about it, but the issue was settled -- at least temporarily.
Loud Explosions
Some very loud fireworks were reported Saturday evening.
Shortly before 7 p.m., a Westfield Lane resident heard two loud explosions a few minutes apart.
Police couldn't find anything suspicious, but said someone on Saratoga Trail had been setting off fireworks.
On Willow Wood Drive, two people called about 7:30 p.m. to report very powerful fireworks on or near their street.
Police couldn't find the culprit.
