A landlord asked police for an escort to her rental property for an unusual reason July 3 -- she was afraid of finding tarantulas there.
A report said the woman was afraid the tenants had left some behind in the Pearl Road apartment.
Police contacted Animal Warden Mike Roth, who said he would meet the woman at the property to check for spiders.
Thefts from Cars
A GPS and a wallet were stolen from vehicles in separate incidents over the last week.
On Hartford Trail, a man reported July 2 that he had left his car unlocked for the previous 24 hours and his Tom Tom was taken.
And on Laurell Circle, a resident reported July 5 that a wallet had been stolen from a vehicle in the driveway.
Explosive in Box
Someone put fireworks or a pipe bomb in a mailbox on Brandywine Drive about 3 p.m. July 3.
A neighbor saw a truck pulling away.
Window Tapping
A Westwood Drive resident heard someone tapping on the bathroom window shortly before midnight July 4, but was too afraid to look outside, a report said.
Police checked the area and found no one hanging around.
On Whitney Road the previous night, a resident heard a man's voice near the apartment carports and also banging noises about 5 a.m.
Police found a man who was locked out and trying to get his mother's attention by throwing rocks at the apartment window.
He threw too hard, though, and broke the glass.
