Police Blotter: Bags of Geese Found in Trash Bin

A man looking for scrap in the Dumpster behind Walmart Nov. 27 made a kind of gruesome discovery instead -- three black bags full of Canada geese.

The fowl had been hunted and gutted, a report said.

Police contacted the local wildlife officer from the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, who said no crime had been committed, as far as ODNR regulations were concerned.

Burglary 

A South Salem Row resident left home for an hour and returned to find the house ransacked.

The break-in was reported at 7:50 p.m. Nov. 26.

Theft from Vehicle

An MP3 player, three CDs and prescription painkillers and anxiety medication were stolen from a car parked outside Houlihan's at SouthPark Mall Nov. 27.

There was no forced entry. The theft was reported about 5 p.m.

Mischief -- Again

A Pearl Road resident who has been having trouble for weeks with vandals reported Nov. 28 that someone had let the air out of his tires again.

In the last few weeks, he has also reported people stealing his election signs and putting fast-food wrappers under his windows.

Beer Bowling?

Police came upon two men rolling a bowling ball in the parking lot of Dapper Dan's on Prospect Road about 1 a.m. Nov. 26.

The officer advised them to put the bowling ball away.

Pounding on Window

A Boston Road woman heard someone pounding on her back window about 6:30 p.m. Nov. 26.

She turned on her floodlights and the pounding stopped.

The woman drove her kids to a relative's house and called police.

Trees in the Road

A landscaper lost three big trees from a flatbed truck on Royalton Road about 5 p.m. Nov. 26.

Police called the Service Department to help get the trees off the road, while a witness chased down the driver to tell him about it.

About 20 minutes later, police found three more trees blocking Pearl Road near Goldie's. 

Officers asked service crews to go there when they finished on Route 82, then got a hold of the driver, who said he had called in a boss to help with the trees.
