Police Blotter: Break-In at Bakery; Teen Hit by Van

The following information was provided by the Strongsville police department

 

Someone smashed the front window at the Schwebel store at 22626 Royalton Rd. early Jan. 13.

Police said the intruders looked in the cash registers, but they contained no money.

File cabinets were also gone through, but there was no cash in the store.

Nothing appeared to have been taken.

Teen Hit; Stories Differ

A 16-year-old boy was walking with a friend on Prospect Road about 5:30 p.m. Jan. 13 when a he was clipped in the shoulder by the mirror of a passing van.

The youth told police he couldn't get a license plate. 

He said he had some marks on his back but was fine.

A short time later, the driver called police to say she had heard a noise while driving and questioned the boys, fearing she had hit one of them.

They wouldn't give her any information and were rude, a report said.

She was driving a work van and was with a patient at the time. Police contacted the parents of the youth to tell them what had happened.

Kids Set Off Car Alarms

A Chestnut Drive resident woke up to the sound of a car alarm about 2:45 a.m. Jan. 12 and looked outside to see a grop of kids wearing hoodies, trying to get into cars.

Police found another car alarm going off on Chestnut. Another vehicle was unlocked, but appeared undisturbed.

The kids couldn't be located. An officer stayed in the area for awhile in case they came back.

Purse Taken

A woman reported her purse stolen from her car at Verizon, 17290 Royalton Rd.

The theft was reported about 5:20 p.m. Jan. 12.
