Police Blotter: Burglar May Have Visited House Twice in One Day

The following information was provided by the Strongsville police department

A Bent Tree Court house suffered thefts -- one minor and one major -- twice in the same day, according to a report.

A resident told police he went out the morning of Jan. 12 to find his car's interior light on and a pack of cigarettes missing from inside.

When he returned home from work, he discovered two computers -- a laptop and a PC -- missing from the house.

He told police he believes whoever took the cigarettes overnight returned during the day and burglarized the house.

There was no forced entry, the report said.

Another Garage Theft

Another car in an attached garage was targeted by a thief the night of Jan. 11.

A Fernwood Circle woman reported someone took her purse from her unlocked car between 7 p.m. Jan. 11 and 2 p.m. Jan. 12, while it was in her garage.

The purse contained $200 cash, credit cards and gift cards.

Think Littering isn't a Crime?

A caller said she saw a car full of teenagers throw fast food bags in the parking lot of Jan. 12, and gave police the license number.

Police went to the car owner's house and talked to the teen, who admitted to tossing the trash. The youth went back to the scene to clean up the mess.

Talking Reported

Police were asked to check out school bus drivers who a passerby saw talking in a Royalton Road parking lot Jan. 10.

The caller said the drivers were talking and laughing, and she thought they might be doing drugs.

Police found the drivers were, in fact, talking, and nothing else.

Bank Calls 911

Dispatchers were concerned with an employee at a local bank called 911 and asked for online banking Jan. 9.

The employee did not sound distressed, but because the call came from a bank, police checked it out. There were no problems at the bank, a report said.

Hello, Scam Calling

A South Red Rock Drive family asked police to help stop some apparent con artists from calling every day.

A report said the calls are made to both a cell phone and the home phone. The caller claims to be a government employee offering them a grant.

Police left a message with the number telling them to stop calling.
