Police Blotter: Burglary; Facebook Identity Theft

The following information was provided by the Strongsville police department

 

A Kylemore Drive resident may have foiled a burglary attempt by answering the door about 8:30 a.m. Nov. 12.

A report said a man knocked on the door, then tried to kick it in.

When the resident opened the door, the man took off in his car. 

The visitor was a short white man, balding and about 35, wearing a blue sweatshirt. He left in a smaller light blue car.

Another Burglary

A Prospect Road resident came home about 8:50 p.m. Nov. 14 to find the back door broken and things scattered around.

Suspected Burglary

A Stafford Drive resident suspected a burglar was in the house after returning home 8:45 p.m. Nov. 14 and hearing a loud crash.

Police found some glass cookware had fallen off a shelf in the basement. There were no signs of anyone in the house.

No Friend

Someone opened a Facebook account in the name of a Timber Edge Place resident, going so far as to put his picture on it and claim to he him.

Damage

Someone threw a brick at a car in a Walnut Creek Drive driveway the night of Nov. 13.

It hit the back of the car.

Alarming

A Gate Post Road family woke up to smoke detectors blaring and the smell of burned plastic about 5 a.m. Nov. 15.

Firefighters couldn't find the source of the smoke. The homeowners said it may stem from some furnace work they are having done.
