Police Blotter: Cat Thrown Out Car Window, Burglaries on Whitney, Purse Stolen at Gas Station

The following information was provided by the Strongsville police department

Two people saw someone throw a cat out of a vehicle on Whitney Road near the I-71 overpass Thursday afternoon.

The cat climbed a tree when they tried to rescue it, a report said.

Police found the kitty on the fence over I-71 and were afraid to approach in case it went onto the interstate.

They called in the animal warden, who was able to capture the cat safely.

Whoever tossed the tabby out the window could face animal cruelty charges.

Apartment Burglaries

At least three apartments on Whitney Road were broken into Feb. 13 and 14.

A housekeeper at the complex reportedly saw the suspect shortly after he kicked in the door of a fourth-floor unit about 4 p.m. Feb. 13. 

A fifth-floor apartment in the complex was also entered that day, but the resident said nothing was missing.

The next morning, a tenant reported she left her apartment at 6:30 a.m. and returned at 8:20 a.m. to find the door scratched and open, and items missing from inside.

Purse Stolen from Car

A woman told police someone stole her purse from her car while she was gettng gas Feb. 16.

The theft took place about 7 p.m. at Gas & Food, 8952 Pearl Rd.

Sleeping Kids Get Wake-Up Call

Police were called to the corner of Oakland Park Drive and Litto Drive about 1:30 a.m. Feb. 13 about two teenagers sleeping in a vehicle.

Officers woke both boys -- one from Webster Road and one from Albion Road -- and cited them, one for curfew and the other for drug paraphernalia.

Racial Harassment

A man told police he was on Foltz Industrial Parkway about 11 p.m. Feb. 10 when a truck full of men pulled into the lot and yelled racial slurs at him.

They also told him to go back where he came from, a report said.
