Police Blotter: Gunfire on Royalton Road?

The following information was provided by the Strongsville police department

A Royalton Road woman told police she heard loud noises Jan. 3 and 4 and believes someone was firing a gun.

She said her neighbor owns a gun and sometimes fires it outside.

Police spoke with a neighbor, though, who said no one is shooting a gun and she hasn't heard any loud noises.

There is a lot of open land in the area, a report said.

Child Abuse Reported

A witness at  reported seeing a man being abusive to his young child about 4:15 p.m. Jan. 2.

The woman said the man took the baby out of its stroller by its neck and then shook the baby.

When she called 911, he threatened her, a report said.

They were gone when police arrived. Officers reviewed surveillance video, but saw only a man and woman pushing a stroller.

Caution: Doggie Above

A tenant at a Knowlton Drive apartment complained that his upstairs neighbors are letting their dog urinate on his balcony.

Police spoke with the dog owner, who agreed not to let the pup onto her balcony any more.

While He Was Sleeping

A Royalton Road man told police he passed out while hosting a Christmas Eve party and while he slept, someone stole a check and forged it.

He said he knows who did it because the suspect left a note with his phone number.

He told police he would try to handle it himself by calling his attorney, who was at the party with the suspect, and ask for his $300 back.

Always Check the Pockets

A man at the asked for help after loaning his sweatpants to another man to wear home Jan. 5, but accidently left his wallet and keys in the pockets.

He didn't know the other man's last name, and needed help from the rec center to identify him.

He later called back and said his wallet was returned.
