Police Blotter: Man is So Drunk He Thinks Officer is Taking Him on Food Run

The following information was provided by the Strongsville police department

A 40-year-old Bluffside Street man called police at 3 a.m. Friday to say he'd been assaulted in a bar, but then thought the officer who arrived was a taxi to take him to get some food.

The man told police an officer had already given him a ride home.

Police determined the man had been drinking at the Islander in Middleburg Heights and that police in that city had driven him home.

Middleburg also said they'd had him checked by paramedics, but the man didn't want to make a report.

A resident of North Wood Trail called police at 6 p.m. Sunday to report a purple van was back and casing the neighborhood again.

Police spoke with the driver, who said he was garbage picking, especially for furniture.

Likely Story Checks Out

Police stopped a truck with a full load of wood pallets on Prospect Road about 11:20 p.m. Saturday to see where they'd come from.

The driver said a business on Foltz Parkway puts them out for people to take.

The officer checked and found the company did, in fact, leave pallets out for people to pick up.

A woman reported losing a $6,000 sapphire bracelet Wednesday, Oct. 19 somewhere between , and bank.

Fight Breaks Up When the Law Arrives

About 15 people were gathered in the parking lot of on Pearl Road about 9:30 Friday night, but they scattered when police pulled in.

A report said two people were about to fight, but left. Officers stayed in the area for awhile because a number of kids were still running around.

Suspicious Situation?

A caller thought it was suspicious that three girls standing at a bus stop on Pearl Road about 11 p.m. Friday did not get on the bus when it went by.

Police said the girls, who the caller said were about 13, were gone when they got there.
