Police Blotter: Man Pounds on Door, Asks Family for $40; Walker Pelted by Eggs; Purse Stolen from Car

The following information was provided by the Strongsville police department

A Pierce Drive family had an unsettling visit from a skinny man wearing a green baseball cap July 16.

A report said the family was in the back yard about 8 p.m. when they heard someone pounding on the front door. They walked to the front just as the visitor was coming into the back.

When they met, he asked them for $40.

An officer speculated the man may have been a carnival worker in town to set up for Strongsville Homecoming.

Police put the area on special attention until the carnival left town.

Splattered Walker

A man told police someone drove by and threw four or five eggs on him and his girlfriend as they walked on Pearl Road about 12:30 a.m. July 16.

Purse Stolen

A purse was stolen from a car on Ashley Circle the night of July 18.

The car was unlocked, a report said.

Wallet Found, but Not the Cash

A woman told police she lost her wallet containing $500 at July 19.

The wallet was later found, but the money was not in it.

Pills Stolen from Car

Medicaton was taken from an unlocked car on Hazelwood Avenue early July 18.

The residents heard noises about 2 a.m. There were about 25 pills of the medication, a controlled substance, left in the bottle, a report said.

Car Damaged

A Lincolnshire Boulevard woman said someone apparently hit her vehicle with a baseball bat the night of July 17, breaking off the passenger-side mirror.
