Police Blotter: Man Reading Newspaper Sparks Suspicion at Mall

The following information was provided by the Strongsville police department

Employees at at called police Dec. 14 about a suspicious man in the cosmetics area.

When police arrived, they found the man standing at the counter, reading a newspaper. He had pushed everything on the counter aside so he could spread the paper out.

When an officer asked what he was doing, he yelled at the officer, a report said.

He asked to speak to a manager, then changed his mind and said he'd just leave.

Dog Bites Officer

A police officer was bitten by an injured dog he was trying to help Dec. 15.

A report said the dog was hit by a car on Pearl Road about 6:30 p.m. and suffered an injury to his back legs.

The officer who tried to catch the dog for medical attention was bitten, the report said. The animal warden tracked down the owner, who said the dog had not had a rabies shot.

The officer went to Southwest General Health Center for treatment.

A Happier Dog Tale

A passerby reported a large black dog that was limping near Drake Road and West 130th Street. 

An officer followed the dog, which seemed fine and appeared to be walking home.

He spoke with the owner, who said she didn't realize he had gotten out and thanked him for making sure the dog got home safely.

Linndale Officer Helps Out

An off-duty Linndale police officer reported two people who appeared to be underage drinking in a car outside about 8:30 p.m. Dec. 12.

Strongsville police stopped the vehicle and cited both the driver and passenger for drinking in a vehicle.
