Police Blotter: Mischief on 3 Streets; Car Left Running All Day

The following information was provided by the Strongsville police department

Kids pulled pranks with traffic cones on Williamsburg Oval and Windward Way the night of July 31.

A witness saw some teens put three orange cones on Williamsburg Oval, blocking the street, about 11:30 p.m., then get into a car and take off.

Police returned the cones to Fairfax, where they belonged.

About an hour later, orange cones and a large rock were found at the intersection of Windward Way and Blue Point Drive. An officer moved the cones and rock.

And on Badger Den Lane, a resident complained about 11:50 p.m. Aug. 2 that for the third night, someone has knocked at her door and run.

Forget Something?

Someone reported about 9 p.m. July 30 that a car outside the Royalton Greens apartments was running -- and had been all day.

Police found the owner's apartment and knocked, but she did not answer.

So officers performed a lockout on the vehicle, shut it off, then locked it and took the keys back to the police station.

They were returned the next day to the owner, who was fine. 

Thefts from Vehicles on Shireen

Two Shireen Drive residents reported car break-ins the night of July 31.

One woman said two cars in her driveway were entered; she found a duffel bag and some papers in the woods behind her house.

Another resident said a few dollars in loose change was taken from his unlocked car during the night.

Sidewalk Sleeper

A passerby on Pearl Road saw a man curled up on the sidewalk near the turnpike about 9:30 a.m. Aug. 1.

Police found a blanket and sleeping bag, but no one around. 

Gunfire

A Howe Road resident reported hearing three rifle shots about 4 a.m. Aug. 2.

Metal Theft

About 4,000 pounds of steel was stolen from a scrap steel hopper at a business on Alameda Drive.

Trespassing

A Winding Trail resident saw four boys with backpacks jump a fence and go onto the back deck of a vacant house about 5:30 p.m. Aug. 2.

The boys ran from the yard, but three were caught by police after a foot pursuit.
