Police Blotter: Mischief with Yellow Tape; Beware Magazine Sellers

The following information was provided by the Strongsville police department

A Blazey Trail resident bought a two-year magazine subscription from a door-to-door solicitor in September and still hasn't received an issue.

The man said he called the company many times with no response.

He told police he knows he's out the $54, but wants the city to be aware of the problem so it doesn't issue another permit to Freedom Sales.

Mischief

A witness saw a male stringing caution tape across Falling Water Drive about 9 p.m. Jan. 18, tying the ends to a fire hydrant and a stop sign.

Police questioned three adults walking separately in the area, but all denied knowing about the tape.

An officer took it down.

About 10 minutes later, police found more tape stretched across Hunt Road, and also removed it.

Lawn Driving

Someone keeps driving over a Deer Path Drive lawn during the night, a report said.

Police followed the tracks to another nearby house, where the parents said it's possible their kids are taking a shortcut through the yards.

Tracking Down a Thief

Police called in a canine unit to help sniff out a suspected shoplifter who fled from Dillard's into a nearby wooded area.

The dog found him under some pine trees, a report said.

The suspect, who had no identification with him, was apprehended about 1:30 p.m. Jan. 20.

Missing Youth

Police were asked to help Cleveland Metroparks rangers find an autistic youth who wandered away from Camp Cheerful about 1:45 p.m. Jan. 19.

The teen had walked away before, a report said.

A motorist on Royalton Road flagged down an offficer said said a teenager was walking in the road.

It turned out to be the missing youth, who was returned to the camp.
